    Member of executive management team for this 280,000 member IPA HMO with 3,000 participating physicians.  Responsible for overall medical strategic planning, development and communication of all medical policies, supervision of medical systems programs, health promotional/disease prevention, group practice development, network contracting, Medicaid.

     

    • Medical inflation factors 9.8% in 1991; 6.5% in 1992; 3.9% in 1993; -1.0% in 1994; -3% in 1995; bed days from 385 to 205 in four years.
    • Created research and development department, health promotion/disease prevention department, and benchmark processes in medical quality improvement.
    • Developed concept and strategy for and executed five-year medical services agreements with key physician provider groups.
    • Acquired General Electric and Procter & Gamble accounts realizing a net increase of 40,000 members.
    • Successfully led a diverse group of physicians through a period of rapid change and consolidation while maintaining excellent physician relations with the health plan (rated number one by physicians in Cincinnati 1991-95).
    • Received full three-year accreditation by NCQA, achieving the highest overall score of any IPA model to date. Rated number one by General Electric of all their health plans nationwide for 1994.
