Dr. Eidus is a board certified Family Physician, most recently passing his recertification test in 2001. He received his medical degree from Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, Piscataway, New Jersey. He did his residency in Family Practice at Overlook Hospital, Summit, New Jersey. In 1996 he received an MBA degree from Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University, Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Eidus spent eleven years in academic Family Medicine, including seven as Department Chairman and Residency Director at St. Joseph’s Hospital and Medical Center, Paterson, New Jersey. During that time, based on his interest in caring for the elderly, he developed a unique curriculum in Geriatrics and was a recognized national leader in Family Medicine education. He then spent eight years in managed care, at USHealthcare as Medical Director for New Jersey and as Chief Medical Officer of ChoiceCare Health Plans, Cincinnati, Ohio. Dr. Eidus served as President of Corning Franklin Health, a case-management company in Ramsey, New Jersey, before serving as President and CEO of Innovative Health Solutions, a joint venture between Merck-Medco Managed Care and Wyeth Ayerst Pharmaceuticals. This disease management company focused on women’s health issues. After two years, Dr. Eidus converted the company to an independent company named Informed Health Decisions. Most recently, Dr. Eidus served as Medical Director of Einstein Practice Plan, a 280 physician multi-specialty group practice in Philadelphia. Since 1999, Dr. Eidus has also maintained an active consulting business, focusing on evidence-based medicine, evaluation of disease management programs, and informed decision making.
Dr. Eidus has been a recognized leader in the area of health quality and outcomes, having spent the last 12 years affiliated with the National Committee on Quality Assurance, including serving for nine years on the Review Oversight Committee. He also was the principal investigator (lead researcher) on a Robert Wood Johnson Grant awarded to find better ways to improve medical outcomes and medical teaching about asthma and other chronic illnesses. This was one of only nine such awards made out of over 300 applicants in 2001.
While at Innovative Health Solutions and Informed Health Decisions, Dr. Eidus designed, developed and implemented a number of disease management programs in Women’s Health. iThese programs included menopause management, high risk prenatal care, and osteoporosis. .
As an independent consultant, Dr. Eidus was selected to perform an independent evaluation of four disease management programs for Blue Cross Blue Shield Michigan, the United Auto Workers Union, Daimler-Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. He has also served as a facilitator on behalf of pharmaceutical companies in the development of evidence-based clinical guidelines.
Dr. Eidus has a stong interest in helping people with chronic illnesses, such as diabetes, arthritis and heart disease. As a family physician, he enjoys treating all members of the family.
Dr. Eidus resides in Westfield, New Jersey with his wife and children.
